The iKew Tourism and Community Centre officially opens this coming Saturday 18th May. After a long period of lying idle the doors to the iKew Centre at 133 Nancy Bird Walton Drive will be officially opened by our Mayor, Peter Besseling at 11 am.
There will be a wonderful party feel as the local community gets to celebrate the culmination of a long process of negotiation to re-open the former Kew Visitors information Centre. The Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce and the iKew Steering Committee have been staggered and humbled by the willingness of local volunteers to participate in this fantastic community project which will be the first point of call for many visitors to the Camden Haven which is indeed the southern gateway to the entire Hastings region.
For the opening there will be entertainment and refreshments for all who attend. Kendall Men’s Shed will be operating a sausage sizzle and our Local Showgirls including Cloe Baker, Miss Camden Haven Showgirl 2013 will be there to mingle with the crowd. After the cutting of the ribbon visitors will be able to enjoy The Gallery where local artists Don Brown and Joan Rickard will be displaying their many talents.
Our volunteers have been manning the iKew Centre for the last month getting prepared for the official launch. With the installation of a dump point in the very near future, the iKew Centre will be able to focus on campaigning to the RV market to encourage travellers to call in to Kew to see The Big Axe and buy local produce and goods.
It is anticipated the iKew Centre will be the catalyst to generate a revitalization of tour-ism throughout The Camden Haven, Wauchope and Port Macquarie precincts as well as providing the glue to connect people from all parts of the community. With over 60 volunteers already the iKew Centre will be the grapevine of information for all community affairs and events.
There will be music, art, food and fun! Make sure you get to the iKew Centre at 10 30am on Saturday 18th May so that you can be a part of our celebration and toast to the long health of the Camden Havens Tourism and Community Hub.
Local businesses are also reminded of the opportunity to promote your business in the iKew. For further information please contact the iKew on 6559 4400 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
